讲师 : Mr. Locky Law is a PhD Candidate in the Department of English at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). His teaching and research interests include corprus linguistics (CL), systemic functional linguistics (SFL), sociolinguistics, discourse analysis (DA), computer-mediated communication (CMC), computer-assisted language learning (CALL), intercultural communication, English for Specific Purposes and linguistic creativity.

Prior to his PhD study, he was a visiting lecturer at PolyU, the head of department (LS3) at Prime English Learning Centre and an English teacher at Wall Street Institute and at 18 local schools. He has over 10 years of experience in English teaching, drama teaching, teacher training and corporate training. He was a columnist for Sing Tao Student Page. Apart from his involvement in research and teaching, he is also the Tesla Motors Group Representative at Charged Hong Kong, a charity aimed at promoting electric vehicles (EV) in the city, and has been interviewed by SCMP on several occasions regarding EV and EV charging infrastructure development.

This interactive talk aims to demonstrate ways to learn English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and general English (GE) through the use of language corpora. By the end of the talk, participants will have acquired the basic skills and knowledge to self-learning and problem-solving. They will be able to find answers to tricky English questions that even some English teachers fail to answer.
