François Renard, a EU antitrust lawyer and HK qualified solicitor, with 20 years of experience in the competition field, including in the construction sector, in Europe, China and Hong Kong, will draw some lessons regarding the major recent developments related to the Competition Ordinance, in particular:

  • the first competition case before the Competition Tribunal,
  • the first Competition Commission’s on-going investigations,
  • its proposal to include Statutory Bodies in the scope of the Competition Ordinance, and
  • the recent appointments of new executives and personnel at the Competition Commission, including its CEO, head of legal, head of economics, and senior executive.

The discussion will focus on the likely impact of these recent developments on the construction industry.

Note – Allen & Overy is involved in the first competition case before the Competition Tribunal, and also represents entities in on-going investigations launched by the Competition Commission.
