The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and related technology is becoming a commonplace among the surveying and mapping professions in recent years. Sr CHOI will share with the audience on the latest technical development and applications of UAV in civilian uses, particularly in various professional services. An update on the current UAV related regulations worldwide will also be given.
UAVs have been deployed in various engineering survey works including topographic updating and volume computation of quarries and landfill sites, monitoring of breakwaters, project progress recording, preliminary study for new developments, 3D modeling for BIM and GIS projects and emergency survey after landslides, etc. Sr CHOI will share some typical, interesting and challenging cases in such real applications.
At the end, the aspects including safety, privacy and legal issues that a professional surveyor should take into account when he/she is going to implement UAV in the daily works will be discussed. |
