Golik was established in 1977 and rapidly emerged as one of the Hong Kong’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of mesh reinforcement. In 2008, upon sighting a shift towards a more streamlined supply chain in the downstream steel bar industry in developed countries with the use of automation technology and the increasing demand of better quality assurance and safety on site, Golik endeavoured to develop the off-site steel bar cut-and-bend industry in Hong Kong. It installed the first automatic cage-making machine for pile cages up to 3 m diameter in the world. It then developed an automatic steel bar cut-and-bend line in its factory.
Today the stakeholders of Hong Kong construction industry are aware of the advantage of off-site steel bar cut-and-bend. Golik has upgraded the production capability of the automatic cage-making machine to produce “double-cage” (i.e. bored pile cage with two layers of steel bars) for bored piles in Hong Kong.
This visit will allow members to see the automatic cut-and-bend machine and the manufacturing processes of cold reduced steel bars, mesh reinforcement, machine made bored pile cages and automatic sheer lines. After the visit, members should understand the latest development of off-site steel bar cut-and-bend process in Hong Kong.
