講師 : Sr Sunny Choi - Senior Quantity Surveyor of Hong Kong Housing Authority.
Sunny is now working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the Housing Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government. He has over 30 years professional quantity surveying experience in technical audit, cost management and contract administration of construction and maintenance works. He has been involved in the exploration and development of BIM applications for quantity surveying works since 2010. He is a RICS Certified BIM Manager and is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modelling (HKIBIM). He is the Executive Committee member of the buildingSMART Hong Kong (bSHK) since 2013. He is also the Honorary Secretary and the Chairman of the BIM Sub-committee of the Quantity Surveying Division of the HKIS.

The idea of setting up “standard approach of modelling” has been promulgated to the BIM practitioners in Hong Kong since 2012.  One of the objectives is to have better quality of models for sharing of model information among project team members.  Some designers and modellers are still in the belief that a model that can allow quantity take-off (QTO) should be a model purposely built for quantity surveyors (QS), and QS are stereotyped as passing their workload upstream in projects adopting BIM.  This concept is outdated if not absurd.


The speaker will share his experience on the collaboration among project team members and his views on how information in models can be shared to QS to serve the intended purpose.
